Illini Hi-Reach to Break Ground on Indiana Corporate Headquarters
Illini Hi-Reach, aerial work platform and material handling rental specialist, will relocate its corporate headquarters and service hub from Lemont, Ill., to Crown Point, Ind., owner and president Larry Workman told RER. Illini will invest $13.6 million to construct and equip a 31,000-square-foot facility, which will break ground on construction next week and be ready for operations by the end of the year, Workman said.
Illini, which also has branches in East Dundee and South Beloit, Ill., has been doing business in northwest Indiana ever since the company was founded in 1993.
“After considerable research and deliberation, Illini’s board of directors chose Crown Point, Ind., as the new corporate headquarters for our company and its long-term expansion plans,” Workman said. “Indiana’s overall economic health and its positive business environment is an excellent fit for our company. Additionally, Crown Point is an ideal location for our new state-of-the-art service and support facility, our largest to date, for these same reasons, as well as its proximity to our other existing markets that we have enjoyed much success over the past 20 years.”
Illini Hi-Reach will keep its three Illinois locations but will use the new Crown Point facility as its corporate headquarters. Indiana offers a variety of tax benefits to business owners, including points for employee training and job creation and personal property tax benefits.
Illini will build the new facility from scratch, breaking ground next week – weather permitting -- and hoping to have the facility completed before the end of the year.
“We have various styles of locations,” Workman told RER. “Lemont has only two acres, but has a full shop. I have East Dundee with a small shop on six acres, and South Beloit a 10,000-square-foot shop on 10 acres. The one in Crown Point will be the big 30,000-plus-square-foot shop, with plenty of outside storage and overhead cranes and an external wash bay, so that’s the one we never had, never had an ‘A to Z’ style location with everything but this one will have that.”
Illini Hi-Reach is No. 99 on the RER 100.
