Sims Crane & Equipment is adding four Liebherr cranes to the company’s equipment roster, an investment of more than $10 million. The cranes are the first Liebherr products purchased by Sims.

Sims took delivery of the first of three Liebherr LR 1300 330-ton crawler cranes last month, with two more to be delivered by the end of the year. Dean Sims II, Sims Crane vice president of marketing said the machines will fill an important niche for the company.

“The Liebherr 330-ton cranes nicely fill in the space between our 275-ton cranes and our 450-ton cranes,” Sims said. “They will be ideal for projects involving highway bridge beams and stadium and hospital construction. We sent the first Liebherr crane out to a jobsite within a very short time of its arrival.”

Sims Crane is also awaiting delivery of a Liebherr 1500-81 550-ton mobile crane. Sims Crane plants to invest more than $75 million in new equipment during the next three years.

Based in Tampa, Fla., Sims Crane & Equipment is No. 35 on the RER 100.
