JCB presented its 3CX, a 14-foot full-size backhoe loader built in Savannah, Ga., with pilot controls at the Rental Show last week. The machine has a 13,063-pound loader breakout force and 6,354 loader breakout force loader lift capacity at full height. The excavator bucket has a 13,942-pound breakout force and is powered by a JCB EcoMax Tier 4 Final engine at 74 horsepower.
JCB staff said customers have asked for pilot controls for the 3CX, which in the past only offered manual controls. The addition facilitates operators’ adapting from hydraulic excavators to backhoes without having to change work methods. Pilot controls are offered as an option. Other options include a climate-controlled cab, hammer pipework, an extending dipper and loader pipework.
The JCX comes standard with daily fluid auto-checks and JCB LiveLink telematics, enabling users to monitor machine performance and maintenance needs remotely, with owners alerted through e-mail or text message if the machine operates with a fault alert.
