JCB Special Edition 70-Year Anniversary Backhoes Rolling Off Production Line
JCB is manufacturing colorful limited-edition backhoes to mark its 70th anniversary, with the first wave already rolling off the production lines at the company’s world headquarters in Rocester, Staffordshire, U.K. The special machines are on their way to customers throughout the U.K., Australia, France, Spain and Russia.
JCB plans to manufacture 70 of the limited edition units, one for each year the company has been in business.
“There has been a huge amount of interest in these special backhoes,” said JCB backhoe loader managing director Yvette Henshall-Bell.
The machines come with red buckets, full white cab and red wheels instead of JCB’s customary black and yellow finish. The limited edition 3CX backhoes have a top speed of about 25 miles per hour, and are fitted with air-conditioned cabs, heated seats and six-speed Autoshift transmissions, and will be equipped with in-cab coffee makers.
Purchasers of the machines will also receive special commemorative packs that include a limited-edition scale model of the anniversary machine in the same colors as the full-size units, retro overalls, polo shirt and tool bag.
Since 1953, JCB has produced more than 600,000 backhoes and now sells them in 120 countries. The company has 40 models in its backhoe product range.
