As announced in February by the Federation Internationale de Football Association, Aggreko has been selected as the official temporary power provider of the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil. Aggreko, the global leader in the power sector, will provide power and temperature control solutions to the tournament’s broadcast network, ensuring viewers worldwide can watch the games without interruption.
The continuous transmission of live action will be provided from the International Broadcast Centre in Rio de Janeiro. Aggreko will be installing both power and temperature control solutions to the IBC at each of the 12 interim broadcast compounds including the stadium’s LED screens. Aggreko will provide 50 MW, of which 12 MW will be used as guaranteed power to the IBC, and the remainder distributed across the 12 stadiums.
Aggreko will also provide temperature control solutions, ensuring heat-sensitive broadcast equipment is maintained at the right temperature as well as climate control for busy news desks.
All 64 matches will be transmitted by the IBC.
Aggreko will also provide primary power to the stadiums’ LED screens, where action will be transmitted live.
