Aggreko, global leader in rental power and temperature control solutions and the Official Supplier to the NCAA, will provide temporary power generation services for the eighth consecutive year to the local festivities surrounding the NCAA Men’s Final Four. The NCAA Division 1 Men’s Basketball Championship national semi-finals and national championship will take place April 5 and 7 at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
Aggreko was chosen for its successful track record with the NCAA, in addition to its long-standing industry experience providing large-scale power generation for high-profile sporting events. Previous events include the 2013 Americas Cup, the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, seven PGA Championships and nine U.S. Open golf tournaments.
More than 10 miles of cable and 6 MW of electricity, enough to continuously power 600 average-size homes for one week, will be provided. Powering the Infiniti Tip-Off Tailgate at AT&T Stadium and the March Madness Music Festival and pep rally at Reunion Park required Aggreko to station a team of 12 technicians over the course of 16 days to manage the preparation, safe installation, and dismantling of equipment. Each performance stage will include Aggreko’s Tier 4-interim generators. Units range from 30 kW to 500 kW and will be monitored 24/7 via Aggreko’s Remote Monitoring service.
“With high-profile events such as the NCAA, it’s important to understand how to successfully manage the numerous moving parts involved in powering events of this scale,” said Gary Meador, head of National Event Services, Aggreko North America. “Aggreko’s years of experience and expertise in the energy management industry positioned us to most effectively work with other vendors and employees to safely accomplish this task.”
Based in Scotland, with North America headquarters in Houston, Aggreko is No. 5 on the RER 100.
