HOUSTON — TNT Crane & Rigging has acquired the crane operations of Turner Bros., a company with 60 cranes and branches in Houston, Longview, Beaumont, Abilene and Corpus Christi, Texas. TNT now has more than 230 cranes servicing the Gulf Coast from 11 branches in Texas, Louisiana and Oklahoma, with full-service capabilities ranging from complete rigging capabilities, crawlers, boom trucks and cranes up to 1350 tons.
TNT, a crane rental specialist based in Houston, has acquired four companies since 2008. It sold a majority interest in the company to Odyssey Investment Partners in late 2011. The acquisition of Turner Bros. is its largest to date. Its most recent acquisition was two Louisiana Crane branches in San Antonio and Houston in early 2011.
“The acquisition of Turner shows our commitment to be a leader in the industry,” said Michael Appling Jr., president and CEO of TNT. It places TMT in a stronger and more compelling position. We will enjoy both industry and geographic diversity through our three new branches in Beaumont, Longview and Abilene. Turner is a leader in the attractive wind maintenance and services business. We welcome the Turner employees to the TNT family and we look forward to working with them as we continue to grow our company.”
David Cowley, executive vice president of Turner, will become EVP and a member of the TNT executive management team. “With the combined equipment, we can service our vast range of customers over a broader area,” said Cowley. “This transaction is a benefit for all markets with the combination of knowledge from safety, to skilled workers, to management.”
