Aggreko, world leader in temporary power and temperature control, said it will relocate its Asia Pacific regional headquarters to a new facility in Singapore, and held a ground-breaking ceremony for a new 11,700-square-meter (about 126,000 square feet) facility. Currently Aggreko’s APAC headquarters is responsible for operations in Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, Japan and South Korea.

According to Aggreko, the underlying market for power and temperature control rental is growing at an average of twice gross domestic product, with emerging markets expected to grow even faster. With Aggreko’s investment in its new APAC headquarters, the company expects to drive faster growth in its local business and support new product development in engines, temporary power generation and temperature control.

“Since we established our office in Singapore more than 20 years ago, the country has continued to be a strategic gateway for us to expand our operations and tap into long-term growth opportunities in the region,” said Debajit Das, executive director Aggreko APAC. “This investment is yet another step towards ensuring the provision of premium services to our ever increasing range of customers, based across many markets. Asia Pacific is a key region for us, and we look forward to expanding our temporary solutions to customers in need of a reliable rental partner.”

The new building will have four stories with a built-up area of about 7,500 square meters (about 80,700 square feet). The office will be based on environmentally friendly green building concepts and features such as energy-efficient and sensor-based lighting, efficient air-conditioning systems to minimize energy waste. The office will include a customer gallery, a training facility, meeting rooms, recreation center, dining facilities and a terrace garden.

The ground-breaking ceremony was attended by senior representatives from Singapore’s Economic Development Board; JTC Corp.; British High Commission and United Kingdom Trade & Investment.

In 2012, Aggreko plc had revenues of about $2.4 billion, with 24 percent coming from the Asia Pacific region.
