Aug. 26, 2011
Swiss-German construction equipment manufacturer Liebherr has pledged to end its business in Iran after learning about Iran’s practice of publicly hanging people from cranes. Liebherr executives told United Against Nuclear Iran that the company will cease all business operations in Iran.
“Liebherr is the fourth major crane company to pull out of Iran following UANI’s Cranes Campaign,” said UANI president Ambassador Mark Wallace. “UANI applauds Liebherr for its decision and good judgment and appreciates Liebherr’s willingness to work with UANI on this serious human rights issue.”
Crane manufacturers Tanado, Terex and UNIC have previously announced an end to their business in Iran following the Cranes Campaign.
