Ohio Cat, Caterpillar equipment and engine dealer for Ohio, northern Kentucky and southeastern Indiana, opened its doors for a new branch in Jackson Township, Ohio, in the greater Canton area. Situated on a 10-acre property, the new facility is one of Ohio Cat’s largest locations, covering 55,000 square feet.
The building features increased shop space, a parts warehouse, and office space for machine sales, administrative, product support and Cat Rental Store personnel. Construction at the new Stark County location is part of a $75 million facilities improvement program being undertaken by Ohio Cat.
Increased business activity, along with demand from the energy sector, specifically in the growing oil-and-gas markets of eastern Ohio, drove the need for a larger facility in the Canton, Ohio, area. Ohio Cat’s current Canton branch will remain operational and begin serving the company’s Power Systems Division customers in and around Canton. Also that facility will service the on-highway truck market and the industrial, electric power generation and natural gas compressions markets. The old facility will provide a more heightened power systems presence, critical to the power generation and temperature control rental customers in eastern Ohio, with rental equipment for the industrial markets and 24/7 field service capabilities.
Ohio Cat is optimistic about continuing growth in Stark County and eastern Ohio, and feels that having multiple locations in the area will enable it to provide increased customer service levels.
Based in Broadview Heights, Ohio, Ohio Cat has 21 locations in Ohio and northern Kentucky. With the improving economy in the area, Ohio Cat has added staff, and now has more than 1,100 employees, leading to the continuing need to improve and add facilities.
