SACRAMENTO, Calif. — River City Connections, a newly formed company led by rental veteran Don Bates, acquired Valley Rents & Ready Mix, a single location rental center in Roseville, Calif., on the outskirts of Sacramento.

Bates, who specialized in sales and sales management for many years as an employee of River City Rentals — the Sacramento area's largest rental company before it was sold to NationsRent three years ago — has brought other River City/NationsRent veterans to Valley Rents.

“We intend to focus on customer service,” said Bates. “We feel that attention to the individual customer is something that has been missing with some of the large national companies that have come to our area in recent years. Our focus will be on our customer base of small-to-medium sized contractors and homeowners.”

Gary Stansberry and Fred Hageman, whose consulting and acquisitions firm Hageman, Stansberry & Associates managed the transaction on behalf of Bates and River City Connections, told RER that Bates hopes to double the $1 million revenue of the company over the next year or two. He added that Bates plans to expand upon the company's strong homeowner and walk-in clientele to a broader base of small and medium-size contractors.

The rental center will keep its operating name.
