The mayor of Changsha, China, has revealed an industrial blueprint to establish the city as one of the world’s leading manufacturing centers for construction equipment, ChinaDaily.com reports. Mayor Zhang Jianfei said total sales in the city’s construction equipment sector will hit 300 billion yuan (about U.S. 47 billion) by 2015.

By 2015, Changsha’s construction machinery products will account for almost a third of those sold globally — compared with its current 9 percent share — according to Zhang’s plan. Changsha is currently home to 30 major construction equipment manufacturers including Zoomlion Heavy Industry Science & Technology Development Co. and Sany Group.

The city is working to bring more component suppliers to Changsha.

During each of the past five years, construction machinery sales in Changsha have grown more than 50 percent, ChinaDaily.com said.
