U.K. aerial company AFI-Uplift is investing more than £5 million (more than $U.S. 8.2 million) to modernize its rental fleet by adding more than 500 new machines, representing 15 percent of total fleet, the company said.

“Even before this latest investment the AFI fleet had a current average machine age of only approximately five years, which is significantly younger than many of its competitors,” said AFI director Graham Osmond.

A significant part of the machine purchases will be in the low-level and electric scissorlift sectors.

Additionally, vertikal.net is reporting that AFI has acquired the powered access rental division of AJ Access Platforms Ltd., which will operate as AJ Rentals. The acquisition strengthens AFI’s position in South Wales.
