The 9th annual Sunbelt Rentals Toy and Food Drive will be held Wednesday, Dec. 8, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at its branch in Portland on NE Killingsworth. A highlight of this family-friendly event is the annual holiday light display that Sunbelt employees design and erect in front of the building using scaffolding, aerial and an assortment of construction equipment. This large light display is illuminated through the end of December.

The Toy and Food Drive will also include visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus; holiday entertainment from the La Center Jazz Band and Choir; a Portland fire truck on display; and free hot dogs, chips, soft drinks, coffee, cocoa and cookies.

From now through Dec. 15, Sunbelt Rentals locations will accept donations of non-perishable food, new unwrapped toys or bikes. Cash donations are welcome, and will be used to purchase food and toys. Donations may be dropped off during business hours at Sunbelt's Portland, Gresham, Hillsboro and Vancouver locations.

All donations benefit the Portland Fire Bureau's Toy and Joy Makers and the Portland Police Bureau's Sunshine Division. The Sunshine Division provided more than $1.7 million in goods to needy families last year, and has set a goal of surpassing $2 million this year. Last year, Sunbelt Rentals employees, customers, friends and event co-sponsors collected more than 3,500 pounds of food, new toys and bikes.

Charlotte, N.C.-based Sunbelt Rentals is No. 4 on the RER 100.
