Snorkel has named David Smith president of Snorkel North America, promoted from the post of vice president of operations. Smith joined the company in 2004 and has held a number of senior management positions within the company.

Snorkel is owned by U.K.-based Tanfield Group.

“We have needed a strong leader to head up the U.S. operations for some time and David has proved over the past six years that he really understands and believes in Snorkel’s core values,” said Brendan Campbell, chief operating officer of Tanfield Powered Access, who led the U.S. operation on an interim basis. “As president of our North American operations, David’s experience and leadership will be invaluable, as we continue to strengthen our business and prepare Snorkel for the economy’s rebound.”

Snorkel recently recruited three senior managers in product support, finance and supply chain. The company also recently rolled out new global branding. With U.S. headquarters in Elwood, Kan., Snorkel now provides a full line of aerial work platforms: boomlifts, scissorlifts, push-around lifts and trailer-mounted booms, providing platform heights ranging from 6 feet to 126 feet.

“We are executing a strategy to strengthen and enhance our customer offering,” said Smith. “We are investing through the tough times so that we are ready to meet our customers’ needs when the good times return.”
