Above and Beyond Equipment, located in Durham, Conn., has opened a new branch in Stratford, Conn., owner Joe Hill told RER. The company, which specializes in aerial work platforms, forklifts and earthmoving machines, is one of the largest independent aerial rental companies in Connecticut and up through New England.
The new branch, located not far from White Plains, N.Y., has hit the ground running with more than 90 percent utilization in its first weeks of doing business. Hill, who owns a partial interest in another rental branch in Massachusetts, said he hopes to expand closer to New York City in the near future.
Hill previously owned All Reach Equipment, which he sold in 2008. “I was planning to just buy and sell equipment at that point,” Hill said. “But old customers started calling me, asking ‘can I rent that?’ and next thing I knew I was back in the rental business. I have a great staff of 14 people, who will get up in the middle of the night to deliver equipment if the customer wants it. When you offer real 24-hour-a-day customer service, they keep coming back to you.”
