Product of the Week – Vermeer BC700XL Brush Chipper for Rental Markets
Vermeer introduces the BC700XL brush chipper in response to the demands of the rental and landscape professional. The smallest machine in the Vermeer brush chipper line, the BC700XL design is based on operator feedback and focuses on productivity advantage.
The brush chipper features the compact size operators are looking for and the performance they want to achieve a job efficiently and economically.
“The BC700XL is a great machine for rental and tree-care professionals who need small-diameter material chipped,” said Andrew Van Soelen, rental solutions specialist for Vermeer. “This machine is designed to help the user be more productive.”
One of the most notable features of the BC700XL is its centrifugal clutch system, which engages the cutter disc without the need for a traditional belt tensioner. The operator increases the throttle and the cutter disc starts to engage at a 1,500 engine rpm and is fully engaged at 2,000 rpm.
The 25-hp Kohler EFI engine does not have a choke, which allows for better startability in all weather conditions. An EFI engine has the potential to average 25-percent greater fuel economy over a carbureted engine. Additionally, Kohler offers a three-year unlimited hour parts and labor warranty.
The BC700XL is engineered to process branchy or forked material. Vermeer designed the 8-inch by 6-inch letterbox-shaped opening to handle demanding material.
The BC700XL features the Vermeer-exclusive SmartFeed feed-sensing control system, which is designed to enhance productivity and reduce wear on feed system components. The standard bottom feed stop bar is designed to make it possible for the operator’s leg to strike the bar and stop the feed either intentionally or automatically. A wide axle is standard, which provides stability while feeding and transporting the machine.
