Mantis recently launched its new XP Tiller/Cultivator — a wider tilling unit than the company's Mini-Tiller/Cultivator. The new XP is comparable to larger mid-/rear-tine tillers at a fraction of the size and weight at 34 pounds.
The compact XP utilizes the power of a 35-cc Honda four-cycle engine to spin Mantis' patented serpentine tines up to 240 rpm to easily dig through sod and the hardest, most compact soils up to 10 inches deep in a wide 16-inch swath.
The XP utilizes a dual-tine-bank drive shaft that provides for control and maneuverability at a wide cut. Independently mounted dual-tine banks offer the flexibility to go from a wide 16-inch width to a single-tine bank Mantis-Mini width of 9 inches in a matter of seconds by simply removing a tine bank from each side.
“The Mantis XP was built not just to perform, but also to last,” says Dante Parenti, product manager, Schiller Grounds Care. “A powerful and reliable Honda four-cycle engine and a single-piece transmission with steel-cut gears are built to handle the harsh conditions of tilling and the abuse of rental customers.”
Like the Mantis Mini-Tiller/Cultivator, the Mantis XP can also power a variety of optional attachments, enabling the user to aerate, dethatch and plow with a single unit. The XP was engineered to combine the convenience of a mini tiller with the power and digging width to be productive on larger projects — from tilling large, winding beds to turning over entire lawns for reseeding or laying fresh sod.
