Terex Corp. last week announced its sponsorship of the keynote address for the inaugural dinner at the annual AED Meeting & Condex. Dr. Robert Ballard — scientist and adventurer — will address the participants at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego on Jan. 16, 2009 at 7:30 p.m.

Dr. Ballard has conducted more than 1,000 deep-sea expeditions and is best known for his 1985 discovery of the Titanic. He was also the first to discover that life existed at the bottom of the ocean without oxygen and photosynthesis. Dr. Ballard has a Ph.D. in marine geology and geophysics from the University of Rhode Island.

“The AED Annual Meeting is an ideal place to connect with our distributors, giving us the opportunity to listen to their needs and share ideas on how to jointly grow our businesses,” said Robert Desel, vice president, Americas and aftermarket for Terex Construction. “We’re pleased to be able to sponsor Dr. Ballard’s address during the meeting’s inaugural dinner. Our distributors will have the chance to sit back, relax and enjoy hearing about Dr. Ballard’s adventures and achievements. They share with Dr. Ballard the satisfaction of having succeeded in their field of endeavor, building their own businesses through hard work and dedication to the industry. Offering this special presentation is our way of saying ‘thank you’ to them.”

Dr. Ballard will share his experiences and expertise from more than 30 years at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution in Massachusetts and as a National Geographic Explorer-in-Residence.

AED's Annual Meeting & Condex equipment show is developed specifically for construction equipment executives. It offers three days of networking and strategic planning with manufacturers, industry services firms and distributors. Professional education seminars and business sessions provide economic forecasts, information and training from industry experts.

“Being a part of AED gives Terex the opportunity to build stronger business relationships with our distributors,” said Desel. “By attending AED’s annual meeting, our distributors are able to uncover business solutions and services that will help their businesses gain a competitive edge.”

Terex is also inviting distributors to stop by its hospitality suite during the AED event, located at the Manchester Grand Hyatt at One Market Place, Suite 3052. The hospitality suite will be open every day of the Annual Meeting & Condex from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dealers are encouraged to contact their local Terex sales representative or email [email protected] to set up a meeting.
