Manufacturers Contribute to Gulf Coast Relief Efforts

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Lexington, Ky.-based LBX Co., in partnership with Sumitomo Construction Machinery, has donated $115,000 to the American Red Cross to assist victims of Hurricane Katrina. The amount includes donations contributed by LBX employees and matched dollar-for-dollar by LBX.

LBX manufactures Link-Belt excavators, material handlers and forestry equipment. The company added that its dealers in the region — Quest Construction Equipment, Scott Construction Equipment, Mid-South Machinery and NationsRent — report minimal damage to their locations and that they are in business and working to assist reconstruction efforts.

Also, Makita USA, based in La Mirada, Calif., a manufacturer of power tools and accessories, has donated $100,000 to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. Makita manufactures more than 320 kinds of power tools and more than 4,500 industrial accessories.
