Vikner will become vice chairman of the Mack board of directors and continue to represent Mack and its parent company, the Volvo Group, in their work with various federal government entities and industry organizations affecting the Volvo Group’s North America truck operations.

Slagle, 53, has served since 2003 as president and CEO of Volvo Construction Equipment North America, Asheville, N.C. He joined the company in 2000 as senior vice president, sales. Other positions held within the company were senior vice president, marketing and business development, and senior vice president, finance and business development. In 2002, Slagle left Volvo Construction Equipment North America to become president of L.B. Smith, the company’s largest equipment dealership at that time. He returned in 2003 as the company’s president and CEO. Slagle has more than 27 years experience in the construction equipment industry.

“Trucks for the construction industry are a major part of Mack’s core business, and Dennis Slagle’s unique background within the industry will be a great advantage for the company in the future,” said Johansson.

Slagle’s successor at Volvo Construction Equipment North America will be named in the near future. Plans for an orderly transition at both Mack and Volvo CE are in place, the company said.

Volvo Construction Equipment and Mack Trucks are members of the Volvo Group (AB Volvo), a publicly held company headquartered in Gothenburg, Sweden. Volvo Group business areas include heavy trucks, buses, construction equipment, marine and industrial drive systems, aerospace components and services, and financial services. The company had 2006 sales of approximately $34 billion.
