Miller Electric Mfg. introduces its new Bobcat 250 Diesel engine-driven welding generator. Powered by a 3-cylinder, liquid-cooled Kubota diesel engine that produces 19 hp at 3,600 rpm, the Bobcat 250 Diesel offers a fully enclosed case, “protective armor” on the front panel, and an Accurated 10,000 watts of useable peak generator power.

The Kubota engine features two standard shutdowns: low oil pressure and high coolant temperature. New meters for maintenance monitor and display engine shutdown conditions, engine hours and oil change interval. Low fuel shutdown makes restarts easy because the diesel engine will shut down before the machine runs out of fuel. Compared to the previous model, a new 12-gallon fuel tank enables an additional four hours of work before refueling on a typical welding job.

The inclusion of a diesel engine makes the Bobcat 250 Diesel a universal welding generator because many jobsites require equipment to run on diesel fuel for safety reasons. On the jobsite, the Bobcat 250 can serve as a welder or generator for powering floodlights and tools that require electrical power.

The high impact protective armor guards the entire front of the machine and the edges of the front panel, including receptacle and output stud covers. This super-tough protective armor offers impact resistance at both high and low temperatures and provides chemical resistance.

“Its small size and light weight make it easy to transport and means more units can fit on a truck,” says John Leisner, product manager for Miller Electric. “The Bobcat 250 also has an enclosed engine and switches to protect them from dust and rough handling. We built an aluminum barrel around the generator to keep it cool in hot welding environments, and our standard circuit breakers protect both the machine and your power tools.”
