Deere Announces Ottumwa Layoffs

Deere & Company last week announced that 40 employees of the John Deere Ottumwa Works will be placed on indefinite layoff later this month due to reduced market conditions for the factory's products. The layoff affects production workers with the least seniority.

Deere & Company last week announced that 40 employees of the John Deere Ottumwa Works will be placed on indefinite layoff later this month due to reduced market conditions for the factory's products. The layoff affects production workers with the least seniority.

The company informed employees at the factory last week of the layoffs, which are effective April 20th. The John Deere Ottumwa Works manufactures balers, mower conditioners, windrowers and pull-type forage harvesters used by hay and livestock producers.

Deere & Company is headquartered in Moline, Ill.
