Peoria, Ill.-based Caterpillar last week said it plans to cut work hours in half for nearly 1,000 workers at its Lafayette, Ind., engine plant. This is the company’s second work reduction announced this month.
In a notice filed with the Indiana Department of Workforce Development, the company said it would reduce work hours for 985 of the 1,900 employees at the Lafayette plant beginning Aug. 24. The work hour reduction could last for up to 6 months, the company said.
