RSC Employees Honored for Equipment Emissions Tracking System
RSC Equipment Rental named Claudia Flaherty, William Smith, Neil Sparks and Dave Ball as recipients of the Freek Nijdam award for 2010, named in memory of the respected late former RSC CEO. The award is given annually to one or more RSC employees who demonstrate outstanding creative thinking and determined problem solving to improve customer service, performance and growth.
The honored employees were instrumental in the development and implementation of RSC’s equipment emissions tracking solution. The team was charged with assisting customers with calculating and reducing emissions from their use of RSC equipment.
ET, as it is known, was designed to support RSC customers in tracking, reporting and lowering emissions for purposes of green building, GSA contracts, LEED credit, regulatory permitting and voluntary reporting. The technology calculates greenhouse gases and other criteria air pollutant emissions resulting from the use of engine-powered equipment rented from RSC.
Emissions tracking information is available through ET on customer invoices and via customized reports. Analyzing ET data enables RSC to engage its customers and assist with reductions that help facilitate carbon neutral rentals. With ET, RSC is the only company in the industry that can precisely calculate carbon monoxide, and as a result, RSC is equipped to help customers achieve sustainability goals.
“ET … is a valuable tool for our customers who want to operate more sustainably as well as those challenged by the increase in greenhouse gas-related regulations and reporting,” said Erik Olsson, RSC president and CEO.
Nijdam was CEO of RSC Equipment Rental from 2002 to 2004, emphasizing a company culture of continuous improvement, capital efficiency and innovation.
Based in Scottsdale, Ariz., RSC Equipment Rental is No. 2 on the RER 100.
