Xylem has won an equipment and service contract worth S$8.2 million (about U.S. $6.5 million) with the Singapore Land Transport Authority. Xylem will supply a range of water-handling equipment, including Flygt submersible drainage pumps and other items for the pumping systems for stages 2 and 3 of the Downtown Line Mass Rapid Transit project.
The train line, scheduled for completion in 2017, will be two kilometers long with 34 stations, the longest underground driverless transit line in Singapore.
Xylem’s partnership with the Singapore Land Transit Authority began in 1984. Xylem has provided more than 1,000 Flygt submersible pumps, Lowara pump sets and WEDECO UV systems for the country’s transportation infrastructure.
