Atlas Copco S.A.E. last week divested Guimera S.A., which is part of Atlas Copco Compressor Technique’s rental operations in Spain. The divestment is part of the Specialty Rental division’s strategy to focus on its core business.
The buyer is a subsidiary of General de Alquiler de Maquinaria S.A., Spain’s market-leading equipment rental company. The divested business, which includes the Guimera brand name, has total annual revenues of about SEK 130 million (U.S. $20.4 million) and 92 employees, and specializes in the rental of equipment for power generation and temperature control.
“Following this and earlier divestments with the clear mission to concentrate on oil-free air and high-pressure equipment for industrial applications, our Specialty Rental division now has a more efficient structure that will further improve our customer focus and help us develop the division,” said Ronnie Leten, president of Atlas Copco’s Compressor Technique business area. “We believe Guimera has excellent future prospects with its new owners.”
The sales price was SEK 170 million (U.S. $26.7 million). Atlas Copco’s remaining specialty rental business in Spain operates under the Atlas Copco brand name.
Headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, Atlas Copco is global provider of industrial productivity solutions. Its products and services range from compressed air and gas equipment, generators, construction and mining equipment, industrial tools and assembly systems, to related aftermarket and rental.
Specialty Rental is a division within Atlas Copco’s Compressor Technique business area. It serves customers in the industry segments around the world with temporary air and power rental solutions. The specialty rental services are offered under several brands. The divisional headquarters is located in Antwerp, Belgium.
