Independent British rental company Fork Rent plc, based in Ipswich, Suffolk, recently acquired the mechanical assets of Leicestershire-based rental business Swift Plant Hire, an in-house rental company previously owned by David Wilson Homes. The deal, terms of which were not disclosed, adds more than 120 telescopic handlers and about 20 delivery vehicles to the Fork Rent fleet, which now has more than 1,400 units. More than half of its fleet are telescopic handlers.
As part of the deal, Fork Rent signed an 18-month sole supply agreement with David Wilson Homes, to provide equipment and services to the company’s many home-building sites across the United Kingdom. Fork Rent had already been a major supplier to DWH.
Fork Rent is a family-owned business, run by Guy Nicholls and his sister Trudi. The company was founded by their father in 1972 and is one of the leading telehandler suppliers in the U.K. Fork Rent also rents mini- and midi-excavators, access equipment, site dumpers, compaction machinery, backhoe loaders and excavators.
