Top News Stories of 2016: Genie Brings in International Dealers, New Products to Celebrate 50 Years
Genie Industries celebrated its 50 year anniversary by hosting customers from 47 countries for three days at its Redmond, Wash., headquarters. Along with a gala celebration at Seattle’s EMP Museum, Genie hosted tours of its new Redmond facilities and introduced new products at Safeco Field, home of baseball’s Seattle Mariners.
Genie’s new generation of XC booms were particularly of interest, especially its SX-135XC self-propelled telescopic boomlift, which includes 90 feet of outreach, 660 pounds of unrestricted lift capacity, the ability to work 19 feet, 8 inches below grade level and a 12 feet, 11 inch by 13 feet, six inch compact footprint.
“With 10 feet more outreach and 32 percent more capacity than typical self-propelled booms of this size, the Genie SX-135XC boomlift is ideal for rental customers working on challenging jobsite applications with its unique up-and-over style capability to navigate obstacles at height,” said Adam Hailey, Genie director of product management.
The unit is able to lift operators to its 135-foot platform height in two-and-a-half minutes and drive enabled at full height.
All Genie XC booms combine the benefits of a dual-envelope design to provide an unrestricted range of motion with a platform capacity of 660 pounds and a restricted operating envelop capacity of 1,000 pounds. To support additional weight on the platform, Genie XC booms are engineered with an updated boom structure with increased performance, range of motion and envelope control, as well as a robust jib capable of handling the standard 1,000-pound maximum capacity.
