JLG Industries, an Oshkosh Corp. company, and leading global manufacturer of aerial work platforms and telehandlers, opened its new east coast parts distribution center in Atlanta earlier this month. The 316,000-square-foot distribution center will stock more than 65,000 SKUs.
The parts offering from the new facility will include all products from the JLG Genuine, JLG Reman and MaxQuip lines. All available parts can be shipped next-day delivery in North America.
“Opening this new distribution center, in addition to the Las Vegas facility opened earlier this year, supports our overall plan to strategically place facilities in areas that result in better service for our customers,” said Jonathan Dawley, global vice president, aftermarket at JLG Industries. “Assigning our customers to the closest distribution center will result in improved parts availability, quicker delivery times and, in many instances, lower freight costs.”
The new distribution center began shipping parts July 5 to select areas. Shipments from the Atlanta-based center will ramp up over time. The company expects it to be fully operational by mid-September.
Customers will continue to use JLG’s Online Express customer portal or retail order hotline – 877-JLG-LIFT – to place parts orders for new or remanufactured JLG and competitive-make parts. Orders will be shipped from the nearest JLG parts location directly to the customer. Shipping options remain the same.
“We anticipate our new multi-warehouse parts distribution network will enable us to better serve the needs of JLG customers across the country, resulting in improved uptime and a reduced total cost of ownership,” said Dawley.
Customers will be assigned a primary warehouse based on their zip code and its proximity to a distribution center. In general, western states will be served by the Las Vegas facility and eastern states by the Atlanta center. Currently, international shipments are initiated at JLG’s Orville, Ohio-based distribution center. These shipments will transition to the new Atlanta-based parts center during the next few months.
