In the new movie “Arrival”, a Skyjack SJ7135RT appears in a few scenes, lifting star actress Amy Adams into an alien spacecraft to attempt to converse with alien beings. In this science fiction film, Adams plays a linguist who is brought in to attempt to communicate with the alien beings. The Skyjack rough-terrain scissorlift elevates a team of characters -- played by elite actors Adams, Jeremy Renner and Forest Whitaker -- into the aircraft entrance.

“We really appreciate this opportunity to help bridge the human-alien communication gap with Skyjack’s rough terrain scissorlift,” said Malcolm Early, vice president of marketing for Guelph, Ontario, Canada-based Skyjack. “The movie producers were specific on the brand they wanted and we were honored to be part of an award-winning film.”

Skyjack provided the unit for use in the movie and an additional platform for indoor scenes.

The movie was directed by French Canadian director Denis Villeneuve. Adapted from a science fiction story “Story of Your Life” by Ted Chiang, the movie premiered in North America Nov. 11. In September, the movie won the Future Film Digital Award at the Venice Film Festival. Critics on review website Rotten Tomatoes said “Arrival delivers a must-see experience for fans of thinking person’s sci-fi that anchors its heady themes with genuinely affecting emotion and a terrific performance from Amy Adams.”

“We are excited for 2017 and beyond,” added Early. “We like seeing our equipment used to simply and reliably elevate people and materials to height – but when it’s got a side of fun, that’s all the better.”

RER comment: The film is excellent and well worth seeing!
