The American Rental Association of Georgia has selected Josh Nickell of Nickell Rental as its next president. Previously serving as vice president, Nickell brings to the position an extensive background in management, rental sales, up-to-date knowledge of technology, and a passion for small businesses. Nickell has been a part of the ARA board since 2010 and will move forward serving as president for the next two years.
"I'm excited to take on this new role and see what we can accomplish in the years ahead," says Nickell. "One of my goals as president is to grow our membership by retaining long-standing members and reaching out to new store owners to help them realize the value of membership at both state and national levels."
While serving as vice president, Nickell’s own business, Nickell Rental, with branches in Newnan, Griffin and Hiram, Ga., was listed on the Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing private companies in the United States for two years in a row, having a three-year sales growth of 77 percent, and ranking No. 218 among construction-related companies in the United States.
“Josh and his team are great examples of what can be done with private businesses in our industry,” said Jeff Lignugaris, past ARA president and president of Northside Tool Rental in Atlanta, Ga. “The most important characteristic of a leader is his or her ability to inspire others and Josh and his team receiving the Inc. 5000 awards are certainly an inspiration to everyone in the industry, and that inspiration will fold perfectly into his leadership role at ARA of Georgia. We couldn’t have elected a better representative for our industry at this moment.”
Along with his volunteer service with the ARA of Georgia, Nickell is chairman of the communications committee and is involved at the national level with The Rental Show Task Force and Legislative Caucus. He has served on various rental industry committees, and was recipient of the ARA Regional Person of the Year award in 2014.
Nickell has a degree in business and co-owns Nickell Rental with his father Tom Nickell who founded the company.
