Aggreko will provide power generation and temperature control for the 2016 Ryder Cup taking place Sept. 27 through Oct. 3 at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minn. Aggreko equipment will heat and cool, and generate power for a variety of temperature and permanent venues hosting 300,000 estimated tournament visitors, such as the 51,500-square-foot International Pavilion; the 47,000-square-foot Ryder Cup merchandise shop; the 24,400-square-foot media center; a members’ tent that will accommodate Hazeltine National Golf Club Members; numerous PGA partner and vendor tents; and the event’s opening and closing ceremonies.
“The Ryder Cup is the largest tournament the PGA manages in the U.S., and they rely on Aggreko to provide safe essential services to many of the event’s venues, big and small, without detracting from the beauty of the course’s natural environment,” said Gary Meador, head of event services, Aggreko North America.
The company’s major events division, Aggreko Event Services, will provide 24 MW of power; more than 4,500 tons of engineered cooling solutions; a crew of 40 to 50 technicians, contractors and local engineers to manage the installation and operations; hundreds of accessories, including panels, transformers, and 400,254 feet (about 76 miles) of cable.
The company’s technical experts will monitor the installation via the proprietary Aggreko Remote Monitoring – a real-time monitoring and diagnostic service – to ensure everything runs to peak efficiency.
Aggreko has a long history of providing mobile modular power to high-profile international sports events, such as the Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games, Pan American/Parapan American Games, U.S. Open, Tour de France, and the FIFA World Cup.
