Snorkel Launches 66-Foot Telescopic Boomlift at Rental Show
Snorkel launched the production version of its new Snorkel 660SJ at The Rental Show, the largest model in the company’s new group of four mid-sized boomlifts. The family of lifts includes the 400S, the 460SJ and the 600S.
The 660SJ is equipped with a 60-foot, 2-inch boom plus a 6-foot, 5-inch jib boom which articulates 135 degrees from -65 degrees to +70 degrees. The Snorkel 660SJ delivers 66 feet, 8 inches maximum platform height, 59 feet maximum outreach, and can lift up to 600 pounds. It measure 7 feet, 10 inches wide and its 34-foot, 5-inch stowed length can be reduced to 28 feet for transport by stowing the jib underneath the boom.
The rough-terrain lift features a traction manifold that delivers oil to all four wheels at all times, providing constant four-wheel drive. It can handle gradients of up to 43 degrees. The lift has fixed axles as standard, reducing complexity and risk of downtime. Oscillating axles are available as an option.
The 660SJ also features a steel, 4-plate top hat style boom weldment manufactured in Selma, Calif., a durable steel cowling and has two individual steel doors on each side of the lift in the traditional Snorkel style. The turret offers 360-degree continuous rotation, and delivers a constant 47-inch tailswing radius to prevent collisions when slewing the machine.
Also the unit showcases Snorkel’s new 8-foot by 3-foot tri-entry platform design with saloon doors, which has 150-degree platform rotation for precise positioning.
