Wacker Neuson’s 2015 trowel challenge was once again one of the most popular events at this year’s World of Concrete show in Las Vegas. Participants race for the grand prize, a custom 48-inch CRT 48-35V ride-on trowel from Wacker Neuson powered by a special Vanguard Big Block V-twin engine. The top three finishers received a custom laser cut ride-on trowel trophy.

Preliminary competitions were held the first three days of the annual concrete trade show. The contestants with the top 10 fastest times from the preliminaries advanced to the finals on Thursday, Feb. 5. The top 10 finalists each had one run through the course and that time was added to their previous time. Less than one second separated the first place and third place finisher.

The first place winner was Greg Geiger, owner of On Demand Concrete Solutions, Warburg, Alberta, Canada, with a winning combined time of 53 minutes, 49.4 seconds. Geiger was the second-place finisher in the 2014 competition. His company specializes in large commercial and industrial concrete flatwork, from the oil-and-gas industry to commercial warehouses.

The second place winner was Timo Herrala of SSTH-Lattiat, in Tampere, Finland, with a time of 53:040. Third place winner was Kent Goosen, HD Concrete, Rosenort, Manitoba, Canada, with a time of 54:367. Goosen also finished third in 2013.
