Over the past few years Ohio-based Crown Equipment has made concerted efforts to reduce waste, manage energy and maximize the lifespan of its facilities.
Some of the changes that the material handling company has made include installing new energy-efficient injection molding machines; implementing a robust industrial recycling program; switching from solvent-based resins to water-based resins; and initiating a parts repair program for its forklifts.
It seems that the effort has paid off with company receiving Ohio’s highest environmental award.
Craig Butler, director of the Ohio EPA presented the company with the first-ever, gold-level award in Ohio EPA’s Encouraging Environmental Excellence (Ɛ3) program.
“I am pleased to recognize Crown Equipment and its New Knoxville team for their achievements. This facility shows that being environmentally responsible is good for the economy and part of being a good corporate citizen,” Butler said
The award recognizes Crown for setting the highest standard of environmental stewardship. “We hope other Ohio businesses and organizations will follow Crown’s lead and go above and beyond the requirements of environmental regulations to make Ohio a better place to live and work,” Butler said.
The Ɛ3 program acknowledges Ohio businesses and organizations for their environmentally beneficial endeavors. The gold level recognizes businesses that exceed compliance regulations to make their facilities and operations more environmentally sound.
