The WB146-5 is powered by a turbocharged Komatsu S4D102LE-2 flywheel 88-hp engine. The drivetrain includes a 4-speed synchro-shuttle transmission with standard 4-wheel drive for traction in soft soil applications. The WB146PS-5 includes a full PowerShift transmission with twist-grip gear control. The new S-shaped backhoe boom is narrower and stronger for visibility, increased lifting capacity, enhanced truck loading and improved breakout force.

John Deere
The design of John Deere's 710G backhoe has been updated from the previous model, and enhanced components include the boom, loader arms, cab and tilted hood. The backhoe is powered by the John Deere 6-cylinder, 118-hp 6068T diesel engine. A 70-gallon fuel tank allows the backhoe to work longer without refueling. Longer, box-constructed stabilizers provide enhanced stability through a stance that is 18 inches wider, yet transport width has decreased. Productivity receives a boost from a stabilizer downforce that has increased by 74 percent and a swing torque that has increased by 72 percent, as well as a bucket dig force that has increased by 4,000 pounds.
