Little Beaver

The MDL mechanical earth drills from Little Beaver are designed for one-man hole-digging applications, and feature a 360-rpm operating speed. Four models are available, the MDL-5B and MDL-5H, which have a Briggs & Stratton or Honda 5.5-hp engine and are mounted on 8-inch semi-pneumatic tires and the MDL-8B and MDL-8H, which offer the choice of an 8-hp Briggs & Stratton or Honda engine on 10-inch pneumatic tires. The drills feature a steel torque tube, allowing operators the ability to use large-diameter augers without fear of kickback, and to reduce fatigue. All models feature a centrifugal clutch, so that if a buried object is encountered or the auger is overloaded, the clutch automatically slips, protecting the operator from injury and drive cable and transmission gears from damage.

Briggs & Stratton

Briggs & Stratton Commercial Power's single-cylinder engines range from 5.5 hp to 10 hp and feature an integrated switch that shuts off the ignition and fuel during transport, protecting the engine and oil from fuel flow. A high-mounted canister-style air cleaner offers increased filter area. An all-metal fuel tank reduces emissions, saves fuel and is mounted directly to the engine block. The air filters are water-repellant and protected by a full-metal cage. A triple seal is designed to decrease dirt, dust and debris intake. Forged crankshaft with dual ball bearings minimizes friction and heat build-up.

John Deere

The John Deere ZTrack Pro Z925 zero-turn mower with electronic fuel injection can provide up to 25-percent fuel savings for landscape contractors, the company says. A closed-loop injection system constantly monitors engine performance. Fuel injectors respond to the load on the engine with the right amount of fuel. “With a closed-loop system, the engine actually checks for unused oxygen in the exhaust multiple times per second,” says product manager Jamie Palmer. The 27-hp engine includes a Tuff Torq integrated transmission, which features 13cc piston-style pumps and 13cc wheel motors for increased efficiency. The unit offers a 54- or 60-inch 7-Iron PRO mowing deck.

Billy Goat

Billy Goat has extended its Outback brush cutter line with the BC2600 series. The BC26 comes standard with Tuff Torque hydro transmissions featuring enhanced traction control and pivoting deck with return to neutral. The hydrostatic transaxle with ETC is automatic, sensing when the rear wheel starts to spin, locking the wheel, giving it positive forward traction. Engineered to glide over uneven or wet terrain, the pivoting brush deck hugs the ground for a better cut, minimizing scalping and improving traction by keeping the weight of the machine on its drive wheels. Ergonomically angled control handles with padded grips enhance comfort and protection.
