S&H Equipment Services, a distributor and rental company formerly based in Grand Prairie, Texas, is opening a new 10,000-square-foot facility next week in Irving. The facility, which will open during the next couple of weeks, is on about two acres of land. Joe Schaffer, president of S&H, told RER the company is a distributor for JLG/Gradall, Gehl, Multiquip, Target, Bomag and a few other small lines, and that about 30 to 40 percent of its revenue comes from rental. Schaffer added that he is expanding the company’s rental fleet.
S&H also earns a lot of revenue from parts and service work, including repairing equipment owned by other rental companies. The company works on a variety of equipment, specializing in forklifts of all brands.
Schaffer formerly worked for Mango Equipment, leaving shortly after that company was acquired by United Rentals in 1999. In 2000, Schaffer bought a company called Lift-Tech and after joining forces with a partner in 2002, changed the name to S&H. Schaffer said his company’s volume has tripled over the past three years, during which time it expanded from eight to 20 employees.
