Product of the Week - Xtreme XR1270 rough terrain telehandler
The Xtreme XR1270 rough terrain telehandler features a 70-foot maximum lift height and a 12,000-pound capacity. Standard features include 360-degree operator visibility from the cab, an integrated machine-rated lift point for handling suspended loads, and a 130-horsepower engine. A wider than industry-standard outrigger stance is designed to provide additional stability, and standard auxiliary hydraulics allow the lift to be fitted with a wide range of attachments.
At its maximum, the XR1270 can reach 53 feet 10 inches with a lift capacity of up to 3,000 pounds, which the OEM says makes the telehandler a viable alternative to a crane. This could present a cost savings to a contractor, given the need for only one certified telehandler operator, versus a crane that requires one certified crane operator, a crane oiler, and a crane flagger. In addition, telehandlers do not require any set-up or dismantling. The XR1270's substantial forward reach is suited to solar projects, culvert projects, wind farms, infrastructure, steel erections, stick framing applications, and jobsites with difficult access, such as for masonry contractors working on restoration projects.
Weighing in at 47,100 pounds, the XR1270 chassis features a 147-inch wheelbase, ground clearance of 15 inches, and a turning radius of 15 feet 10 inches. Options include a choice of open and enclosed cabs, with heat and air conditioning, as well as multiple fork tines and carriages, including a side tilt carriage. The XR1270 can be further customized with attachments, including a 72-in pole grapple, sling mount, truss booms, and buckets.
