JLG Industries introduces two self-propelled vertical mast lifts for heavy-duty use in construction, maintenance and retail applications. The mobile vertical lifts have an extended-life gearbox, single joystick drive and steer control, automatic rapid re-charge battery charger and two sealed 100-amp-hour maintenance-free batteries.

The Model 15MVL has a 15-foot, 4-inch platform height and 500-pound capacity. The Model 20MVL (pictured) has a 19-foot, 6-inch platform height and 350-pound platform capacity. The clutch-free gearbox is the same as those used on JLG's scissorlifts, and the new electric drive motor uses four brushes that increase brush life. “Four brushes give more contact area inside the motor so they don't wear as fast,” says Jeff Ford, product parent for JLG Industries. “We're getting about five times the brush life.”

Ford also says that with the electric drive motor, users can get more work out of a single charge than they could with hydraulic power. “It's up to 20 percent better in terms of duty cycle,” he says.

Standard features on the MVL Series include non-marking tires, transportation tie-downs, built-in fork truck pockets, an hour meter, and a 110-volt double receptacle on the platform. An all-motion alarm beeps regardless of the function that is being performed for added safety. The units also include an automatic pothole protection system, a key lock for the main power switch, and an optional programmable 4-digit security lock.
