ESCO and SCW Celebrate 10-Year Joint Venture

Shanxi Changfeng Wearparts Co. last week celebrated a successful 10-year joint venture with Portland, Ore.-based ESCO Corp. and China-based Taiyuan Heavy Machinery Group Co. of the Peoples Republic of China.

Located in Taiyuan, China, SCW manufactures a wide array of ESCO products for mining, dredging, construction, mineral processing and industrial applications with special emphasis on crusher wearparts.

SCW also makes high-specification castings for such original equipment manufacturers as Caterpillar and General Electric for power generation and oil-drilling applications. SCW is also a leading provider of manganese wear liners and such pump/pipeline products as ball joints, pump cases, impeller and suction doors for major international dredging operations.

Combined with ESCO’s global distribution system, the joint venture with SCW serves customers throughout the world.

ESCO owns a majority of SCW shares and maintains management and operations control. Since the launch of the joint venture in September 1998, the SCW plant has been transformed into a world-class steel foundry. As a key strategic investment, SCW has helped ESCO build its capability and capacity in the China market.
