He had several leadership positions at Ingersoll Rand, including vice president of sales and marketing for all construction equipment businesses. This expanded his experience with used equipment manufacturing and company-owned dealers in the U.S., Europe and Southeast Asia.

Dolan later became executive vice president of commercial and industrial groups at Generac Power Systems, including its subsidiaries Magnum, Towerlight and MAC Heaters. Dolan then became president of Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers U.S. and Latin American markets, overseeing 23 operations within the U.S. and Latin America.
