Milwaukee-based Briggs & Stratton Commercial Power last week announced Justin Joerman, branch leader at SavATree in Mountainside, N.J, as the winner of the Vanguard Power Chase contest. Joerman won a four-day trip for two to Daytona Beach, Fla., for racing’s premier event in February.

With Briggs & Stratton’s Vanguard Power Chase, an interactive contest, dealers and customers were asked to simply pick which drivers they thought would do well in the final 10 races of the stock car season. The contest was free to enter.

“I tried to keep an eye on the average finishing position of each driver and ride whoever stayed hot,” Joerman said. “Luckily, I was able to grab and hold first place for most of the Chase, but I’m just extremely happy and shocked.”

In its first year, the Vanguard Power Chase had hundreds of participants choosing racecar drivers in a “pick ‘em” style throughout the final 10 races of the 2010 stockcar season. Points were awarded based on where the drivers finished.

“The contest was designed as a way to say thank you to dealers and customers who have helped with the growing success of Vanguard engines,” said Dan Roche, marketing manager for Briggs & Stratton Commercial Power. “Vanguard engines are about power and durability, and nothing exemplifies that better than stockcar racing.”

Briggs & Stratton Commercial Power is a leading provider of commercial power solutions. The Vanguard engine family is the company’s premier line of engines and includes single-cylinder engines from 2.4 to 15 gross horsepower, Vanguard V-Twin horizontal and vertical engines from 14 to 23 gross horsepower, and Vanguard air-cooled V-Twin BIG BLOCK engines from 25 to 35 gross horsepower (horizontal) and 28-36 gross horsepower (vertical).
