Vermeer Manufacturing's HG6000 horizontal grinder packages innovation, power and safety for large-scale reduction and recycling of green waste and storm debris. For easy maintenance, the entire millbox lid opens from the top of the machine, allowing the operator to remove or change a screen in a short amount of time.

The machine features two engine choices — the 525 HP C15 and 630 HP C16 Tier II Caterpillar units. These engines deliver the power needed to operate the wide-block hammermill that rips through organic waste including hardwood, regrind and pallets.

High-strength, lightweight aluminum wheels with .385/6SR22.5 radial tires improve on-site mobility and provide increased ground clearance. The HG6000 is equipped with a fifth wheel towing configuration. Retrieval tow hooks are standard.

“The HG6000 features two exclusive Vermeer innovations — the patented Duplex Drum and the patent pending SmartFeed system,” says Chris Nichols, environmental product manager. “This combination is designed to increase productivity and reduce daily maintenance time, which equates to more profit and more grinding for the customer.” The HG6000 is equipped with an exclusive thrown object deflector system that reduces the quantity and distance of thrown objects.
