Kubota Tractor Corp. increased its focus on the construction market last week, unveiling three new excavator models at World of Concrete. The new lineup includes the KX040-4 and KX018-4 compact excavators and the U35-4 tight tail swing compact excavator.

“Upgrade, innovate and expand are three words that describe Kubota’s approach to the construction market in 2013,” said Ted Pederson, vice president of construction equipment and northern division for Kubota Tractor Corp. “Our increased emphasis in the construction market is a natural fit for Kubota’s strategic growth plan and stems from our parent company’s successful worldwide focus on excavators — and that emphasis is demonstrated today at World of Concrete with the introduction of not one, but three new, powerful excavators.”

“In addition to these new models, Kubota has upgraded several of our existing lines to include Tier IV engines, improved serviceability, and updated and repositioned control panels for greater ease of use,” added Keith Rohrbacker, construction equipment product manager for Kubota.

Kubota’s new 4-ton KX040-4 replaces the KX121-3 and prioritizes the economy while supporting the environment with its Eco Plus system, giving operators the option of eco mode for up to 20-percent less fuel consumption than the prior model. The KX040-4 features a deluxe interior with a spacious air-conditioned cab, wide entrance, fully flat floor, deluxe suspension seat, and an easy access up-front control panel. The KX040-4 also offers auto downshift travel motors, which shift automatically to improve productivity.

The U35-4 tight tail swing compact excavator is a 3.5-ton machine equipped with the same spacious cab as a larger 5-ton excavator as well as an auxiliary 1 diverter valve that allows operators to leave the thumb attached and connect other hydraulic attachments to a second port. Powered by a Kubota 24.8 gross horsepower direct injection engine the U35-4 has a max dumping height of 11 feet, 0.7 inches and digging depth of 9 feet, 8.9 inches.

The KX018-4 is powered by a Kubota D902 17 gross horsepower engine that meets current engine emission regulations without the extra emissions equipment. This new compact excavator features a long tumbler distance and wide variable track for increased stability and lifting capacity, a variable track gauge and auto down shift travel motor for smooth operation. The KX018-4 features a dumping height and digging depth of 7 feet, 9.7 inches.

Torrance, Calif.-based Kubota Tractor Corp. is the U.S. marketer and distributor of Kubota-engineered and manufactured equipment, including a complete line of tractors up to 118 PTO hp, performance-matched implements, compact and utility-class construction equipment, consumer lawn and garden equipment, commercial turf products and utility vehicles.
