Wacker's new series of breakers/rotary demolition hammers combines technical innovations with high-quality control standards, according to Don Kyle, Wacker's products manager, demolition products.

The Magic Breaker series is offered in two demolition models - the EH 9BL and the EH 9BLM - and three rotary hammer models - the EHB 11BL, 11BLS and 11 BLM.

The secret, Kyle says, is in the inverter. "It's a world-class innovation," he says. "Inverter technology has been there for three-phase motors, but nobody has built it into a unit. We miniaturized the inverter - which used to be the size of a small generator - into a 3 1/2-inch component and put it inside the machine, making the unit self-contained."

The inverter allows the machines to deliver three-phase power from a regular single-phase current. The Magic Breaker series also features a built-in automatic voltage compensator to protect the hammer, as well as the operator, from power peaks and drops.

"Another unique feature is no carbon brushes," Kyle says. "And no windings in the motors, so there is little that can go wrong with the unit. There are fewer wearing parts, less likelihood of breakdown, less maintenance. It's on the job working instead of on the bench being maintained."

The Magic Breaker series is ergonomically designed, with a patented Pro-Ergo Grip system that allows for fast and easy change of grip during operation. "The operator can change hand grip without adjusting the handle," Kyle says. "With most hammer drills, if the operator wants to change grip, he has to stop and loosen the handle and change or tighten it. This has more positions and is easier to move."
