POINTE CLAIRE, Quebec — Hewitt Equipment, the Caterpillar dealer for Quebec and western Labrador, has signed a letter of intent for Hewitt Rentals to acquire the assets of Location AMI, Ste-Therese, Quebec. Founded in 1996 by Michel Vaillancourt, Location AMI is one of the largest construction-oriented rental centers on the north side of Montreal, the province's largest city. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Once the deal is final, Location AMI will take on the name Hewitt Rentals, which has an expanding network of facilities. In addition to 12 branches in Quebec and one in Western Labrador, Pointe-Claire, Quebec-based Hewitt has an additional eight branches in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island under the name Atlantic Tractors and Equipment, a company Hewitt acquired in 1995.
In addition to its full line of construction equipment, Hewitt and Atlantic manufactures, sells and rents diesel and electric generator sets and control panels to projects around the world.
