The Ditch Witch line of underground construction equipment expands to include a mini skid steer loader — the SK500. The compact, walk-behind model is designed for a variety of construction applications. With lifting capacity in the 500-pound class, the new machine is powered by a 24-hp engine and travels on rubber tracks powered by dual independent hydrostatic ground drives.

Ground drive pilot control provides responsive steering with little or no vibration transferred to the control handles. Rubber tracks limit disturbance to turf and paved surfaces and are available in either 7- or 9-inch widths. Track length is 40 inches.

The 36-inch bucket holds 3.4 cubic feet of material; the 44-inch bucket has a capacity of 4.2 cubic feet. Lifting capacity is 500 pounds. Maximum dump height is 60.5 inches. Dump angle is 40 degrees. Rollback angle is 85 degrees at full height, 25 degrees at ground level.

“With the efficient application of its hydraulic systems, you have complete smooth control of the drive system while having independent power for the attachments,” says Mike Lumbers, product manager. “With more than 40 plus attachments that can be used on the SK500 and the very intuitive simple operators station, the customer base and applications are almost endless.”

For optimum efficiency, the unit has two hydraulic pumps. A 4-gpm pump operates lift and tilt. An 8-gpm pump provides power to hydraulically-operated attachments.
