CARSON, Calif. - Jay Robinson, executive vice president and chief operating officer of MQ Power, Carson, Calif., died last month of lung cancer at the age of 57.

Robinson joined the company in 1983 as northern region manager, after working for Grimmer-Schmidt as vice president of operations. He later became national sales manager, vice president of sales, and eventually vice president and then EVP/COO of MQ Power, a division of Multiquip.

Robinson was one of the most popular employees at Multiquip, advertising manager Rob Deckman told RER. An avid hunter and fisherman, he was also known for his humor and his collections of antiques and Mr. Peanut memorabilia.

Robinson is survived by his wife Mary Etta, his parents, Letha and Olen Robinson, two daughters and three grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, Robinson's family asked for donations to be made to Los Angeles-based Children of Hope, a charity Multiquip officials have been active in supporting.
